Are there Online MHA Programs that Waive or Do Not Require the GRE?

With a huge number of applicants, people who plan to enroll in an MHA program often take such tests as Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) to stand out.

The GRE is a standardized exam that’s been around since 1939, administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Typically, it is a requirement for graduate school applications, which is aimed at measuring analytical writing, verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and quantitative reasoning skills.

The test includes geometry, algebra, arithmetic, and vocabulary.

According to the ETS, over half a million students took the test between July 2016 and June 2017.

Poets & Quants, however, note that graduate schools more and more often accept GRE scores instead of GMAT or other standardized exams.

The cost of GRE includes more than just fees.

According to PrepScholar, test-takers can spend over 100 hours for the study before the test.

Besides, extensive courses for test preparation can cost as much as several thousand dollars.

The financial requirement and time commitment mean that test-takers who have work and family obligations may not be able to access an equal level of paying field and resources.

Therefore, the GRE was criticized emphasizing its disadvantage to minorities, women, economically disadvantaged, as well as its inability to predict the future success of the student.

An article was published in the journal Nature by two academics, Keivan Stassun and Casey Miller, stating that women score lower by 80 points on average below men in physical sciences.

They also state that African Americans score 200 points lower than white people.

Simply speaking, the GRE better demonstrates the sex and skin color that ultimate success and abilities.

Luckily, not all MHA programs require GRE scores.

There are programs that either don’t require GRE scores at all or offer some waivers for applicants who meet other specific requirements.
