Licensing Requirements to Become a Pharmacy Technician in Wyoming

The first step in this process is to finish high school or get your GED.

Candidates should then attend a pharmacy technician program from:

  • The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam
  • The National Health Career Association exam (ExCPT)

Upon successfully completing the examination, candidates are required to apply for their license with the State Board of Pharmacy in Wyoming.

In order to be eligible for this course, students must first attain a silver score in the  applied math assessment.

This course prepares students to assist pharmacists in the day-to-day operations of a pharmacy, including dispensing medications.

The course includes 72 hours of classroom instruction.

The programs are fully accredited by the fully accredited by the ASHP/ACPE.

In addition, students receive a guest lecture from the Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy and visit a local pharmacy, when available.

Tuition for this course is as follows: in-state students pay $153.75 per credit hour while out-of-state students pay around  $363.75 per credit.

3. Penn Foster Career School

Penn Foster Career School offers a Pharmacy Technician Professional Diploma course which may be completed in 11 months.

This course is fully accredited by the ASHP/ACPE and prepares students to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).

Students are prepared for an entry level position as a pharmacy assistant and the program has partnered with national pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS to offer students the ability to gain hands-on experience in a real working situation.

The program consists of 66.7 credits, 13 courses, 31 exams, and one externship.

While students are able to complete the course in as little as 11 months, they have up to 17 months to complete it.

4. IBMC College

IBMC College is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming and offers a Pharmacy Technician Diploma program.

The program consists of 17 courses and is made up of 67 credits.

The school also offers a Pharmacy Technician Degree program which consists of 90 credits and 24 classes.
